# How to Get More Grok Bot Usage (2026)

To get more Grok Bot usage, move to a bigger X Subscription plan (Premium includes 4x Plus's usage, Super 15x and Ultra 50x) or buy top-ups so work continues as paid Additional Usage past your weekly pool. The one free way xAI documents is its referral program, which adds a free usage reset for each friend who becomes a paid subscriber; beyond that, make the pool last by running routines less often and narrowing Slack triggers.

## Get more Grok Bot usage in five steps

1. **Check how much is left and when it resets**: Open Usage at grok.com/dashboard on The X Subscription, or Settings → Usage & Billing in the Grok Bot app. The usage view shows how much of your weekly pool is used and the next reset date. If the reset is close, waiting costs nothing.
2. **Refer a friend for a free usage reset**: On a paid Premium, Super or Ultra plan on The X Subscription, based in the US, share your referral link from the gift icon in the Grok Bot app or at grok.com/dashboard/referrals. Each friend who becomes a paid subscriber adds one usage reset to your account 7 days after their payment.
3. **Buy top-ups for Additional Usage**: Under Additional usage credits at grok.com/dashboard/billing, buy credits or turn on Auto Top-up. First-party usage past your weekly pool is Additional Usage, paid from that prepaid credit. Set a monthly additional usage limit so paid usage pauses at an amount you choose.
4. **Move to a bigger plan**: Premium includes 4x Plus's usage, Super 15x and Ultra 50x, as one weekly pool per seat. If you run out most weeks, compare a bigger plan's price with what you spend on top-ups, and check current included usage at x.ai/pricing before you switch.
5. **Move heavy coding work off the pool**: Open Reason on the web at reasonmachines.com, or in the Reason app for Mac, sign in and connect GitHub. Choose the repository and describe the task, for example "fix the failing tests". The session works in your repository on Reason's own cloud computer, runs the tests and opens a pull request, and it uses your Reason plan's credits, not your Grok weekly pool, so it keeps going whether or not Grok Bot has usage left. With Reason connected to Grok Bot, Grok Bot can also start a session for you; its own messages, including that one, still count toward the weekly pool.

## How to get more Grok Bot usage

To get more Grok Bot usage, move to a bigger X Subscription plan or buy top-ups so work continues as paid Additional Usage past your weekly pool. The no-cost ways are in the next section.

1. Move to a higher plan for a bigger weekly pool. xAI states included usage relative to Plus: Premium includes 4x, Super 15x and Ultra 50x Plus's usage. Grok Bot needs Premium or higher.
2. Buy top-ups to keep working past the pool. After your included weekly usage, first-party usage is Additional Usage, paid from prepaid credit you buy with top-ups. Auto Top-up is off unless you turn it on, and then it refills your credit when the balance drops to a threshold you choose. A monthly additional usage limit (spending cap) pauses paid usage once it is reached, even with credit left. All three are under Additional usage credits at grok.com/dashboard/billing. Top-ups don't make the pool itself bigger.
3. Hit your limit? Reason keeps going on your other connected accounts or Reason credits.

## How to get more Grok Bot usage for free

xAI documents one free way to get more Grok Bot usage: its referral program, which gives you a free usage reset for each friend you invite who becomes a paid subscriber. Otherwise, getting more for free means spending less of your weekly pool on each job, because every routine run and every Bot reply uses it.

1. Refer a friend for a free usage reset. Share your referral link from the gift icon in the Grok Bot app or at grok.com/dashboard/referrals. When your friend becomes a paid subscriber, one usage reset is added to your account 7 days after their payment, valid for 6 months, and your referral code can be redeemed up to 10 times. You need a paid Premium, Super or Ultra plan on The X Subscription, be based in the US and have checked out at least 7 days ago; Plus, Team and legacy Cursor or SuperGrok plans can't refer right now.
2. Run routines at a few fixed times a day instead of short intervals. Each routine run spends usage, and xAI says an hourly schedule, a short interval or a Slack trigger on a busy channel can use a week of usage in a day. Pause routines you don't need and ask the Bot to widen the rest.
3. Turn off chatty Slack and channel triggers. xAI warns against broad listeners such as "every new message": a trigger on any message in a busy channel runs often and spends usage on messages that don't need the Bot. Trigger on a mention or one phrase in one channel instead.
4. Keep group chats lean. xAI says every Bot reply counts toward your usage, including replies in a group and messages between Bots, so fewer Bots in a group means fewer replies.
5. Check how much is left before big jobs. In the Grok Bot app, Settings → Usage & Billing shows weekly included usage; on The X Subscription, Usage at grok.com/dashboard shows how much of the pool is used and the next reset date.
6. Time heavy work for just after your weekly reset. The pool resets each week on the date your usage view shows, so a big job started right after it has the most of the week's pool to draw on.

## Questions

### How do I get more Grok Bot usage?

Move to a bigger X Subscription plan (Premium includes 4x Plus's usage, Super 15x and Ultra 50x), or buy top-ups so first-party usage continues as paid Additional Usage past your weekly pool. On a legacy Cursor plan, turn on on-demand usage. To use less of the pool, move coding work to a Reason session or your own coding agent.

### Can I get more Grok Bot usage for free?

xAI documents one way: its referral program. On a paid Premium, Super or Ultra plan on The X Subscription, based in the US, you get one free usage reset for each friend you invite who becomes a paid subscriber. Otherwise more usage means a bigger plan or paid Additional Usage, and the free option is making your weekly pool last: run routines at fixed times instead of short intervals, narrow Slack triggers, keep group chats lean and check Settings → Usage & Billing before big jobs.

### How to get more Grok usage?

Move to a bigger X Subscription plan (Premium includes 4x Plus's usage, Super 15x and Ultra 50x), or buy top-ups so first-party usage continues as paid Additional Usage past your weekly pool. To make the pool last longer, give each Bot narrow tasks and run routines less often: xAI says each routine run spends usage.

### How long does a referral usage reset last?

Each usage reset is valid for 6 months after it is added to your account, which happens 7 days after your friend's payment is received. Your referral code can be redeemed up to 10 times, and a refunded or disputed payment removes the pending reward.

### Do top-ups make my weekly pool bigger?

No. Top-ups buy prepaid credit for Additional Usage: first-party usage past the pool, and third-party models in Cursor. The pool itself stays the same until a plan change; Super and Ultra have larger pools than Premium.

### Does handing work to Reason stop Grok Bot from using my weekly pool?

No. Grok Bot's own messages, including the one where it starts a Reason session, still draw from your Grok weekly pool. The coding work itself (reading the code, running builds and tests, opening the pull request) runs in the Reason session on Reason's cloud machine and uses your Reason plan's credits instead.

### Is Reason made by xAI?

No. Grok Bot is a product of xAI. Reason is built by Reason Machines and is not affiliated with or endorsed by xAI. Limits and prices on this page come from xAI's own documentation; check it for changes.
