What it does
- Reads new DMs in the messaging app on your connected computer and sorts them by your policies.
- Sends call and podcast requests your booking link.
- Points investors to the page you keep for them.
- Holds refund and billing requests for you instead of answering them.
- Archives obvious spam, and summarizes what it did and what is waiting for you.
How it works, honestly
Reason has no native X or LinkedIn integration. It works through an app that already shows your DMs, such as Beeper, on a Mac or PC you connect to Reason, and it uses that computer's screen and keyboard. That computer has to be on, awake and signed in to the app for a run to work, and a change in the app's layout can slow it down until it adapts.
How to set it up
- Instructions sketch: "You handle my X and LinkedIn DMs in Beeper. Calls and podcasts: reply with my booking link. Investors: reply with our investor page. Refunds or billing: don't reply, list them for me. Spam: archive. Anything else: leave it unread and add it to my summary. Never send money, links I didn't give you or anything about unreleased work."
- Computer: connect your Mac with the Mac app, sign in to the messaging app there, and give Reason permission to control it.
- Example Loop: every 2 hours from 9:00 to 19:00 on weekdays (cron 0 9-19/2 * * 1-5), running on that Mac, with a summary in Slack.
- Memory: tell it once when a reply was wrong and it applies the correction on later runs.
What it won't do
- Connect to X or LinkedIn directly, or run while the connected computer is off.
- Answer refund, billing or legal messages, if your policy says to hold them.
- Post publicly for you unless your instructions say so.
Questions
What is an AI social DM manager?
An AI agent that reads your social direct messages, replies to routine ones by your rules, routes the rest and archives spam, then tells you what needs you.
Does Reason connect to X or LinkedIn?
No. Reason has no X or LinkedIn connector. It works through a messaging app that shows those DMs, such as Beeper, on a computer you connect to Reason.
Does my computer need to stay on?
Yes. Because it works in an app on your connected computer, that computer has to be on, awake and signed in to the app for each run.
Can it decide who gets a reply?
It follows the policies you write, for example booking links for call requests and an investor page for investors, and holds anything you mark for yourself, such as refunds.
What does it cost?
Reason Pro is $50 a month per person and includes cloud computers, Loops and 1,250 credits of usage a week; Max is $200 a month with four times the weekly usage. Eligible new customers can start Pro with a 3-day free trial. Every AI employee you set up shares your plan's usage; there is no per-employee fee.
