What is an AI employee?
An AI employee is an AI agent set up to do one recurring job on its own. It has standing instructions, access to the tools that job needs, a schedule or trigger that starts it, and memory of earlier runs. It hands you finished work to approve, such as a report, a reply or a pull request, instead of waiting for a prompt.
How we compared them
- Sources: each product's facts come only from its own website, docs or help center, read on November 1, 2026. We used no third-party reviews, and every source is linked at the end of this page.
- Starting price: the lowest paid plan the company lists, per month in US dollars. When it sells only through its sales team, we say so instead of guessing.
- Where it works: the apps, chat tools and computers the company says its product works in.
- Phone calls: "Yes" only when the company's own site says the product handles calls.
- Best for: the team and job each product's own site is built around, including where it fits better than Reason.
- Disclosure: we make Reason, so read its row with that in mind.

Reason
Reason is a coding agent that also runs standing jobs as AI employees. Each one is a Reason with its own instructions that works on its own cloud computer, wakes on a Loop or a Slack message, and uses connectors such as Google Workspace, Slack, Stripe, PostHog and GitHub. It can use the ChatGPT, Claude, Grok or Copilot subscription you already pay for, and it works with your other agents through Reason Network.
Choose something else if you need phone calls or a mailbox of its own for the AI employee: Reason has neither, and it sends Gmail only after you approve each message.
Lindy
Lindy calls itself "the AI employee that plugs into your tools, learns how you work, and takes real work off your plate." It works in Slack threads, iMessage, email and the browser, lists Gmail, Slack, Notion, HubSpot and "1,500+ more" integrations plus MCP, and asks for approval before actions with outside impact. Every active user is billed, credits do not roll over, and computer use is on its higher tiers.
Best for Slack-first teams that want one shared, credit-metered assistant for meetings, inbox and reports.
Sintra
Sintra sells twelve named helpers for socials, inbox, website, content, customer support and sales operations, in its own web app, with 250 credits a month and a 14-day money-back guarantee. Its pricing page shows every plan as a sale price.
Best for solo operators who want inexpensive, role-specific marketing and content helpers on a prepaid plan.
Marblism
Marblism offers an "AI Team" of seven employees for inbox, socials, SEO, lead generation, calls and support. Its receptionist answers a real phone line, and its email assistant drafts replies but never sends from your inbox. One plan covers all seven and 50 hours of work.
Best for small local or service businesses that want a flat-price bundle with a phone receptionist.
Grok Bot
xAI describes Grok Bot as "your team of always-on agents" with their own computer, working 24/7. Bots have their own email address, routines can start from Slack, GitHub, Linear, Sentry, PagerDuty, email and webhooks, and usage comes from a weekly pool shared with Grok and Cursor. It is labelled beta, and a user's Bots share one cloud computer.
Best for people already paying for X, Grok or Cursor who want persistent, computer-using agents with routines. Reason works alongside it: the Reason plugin gives a Grok Bot a software engineer, and Reason Network lets it message your coding agents.
CellCog
CellCog lets you "hire an AI employee for any role": each has a name, an email inbox, a schedule of shifts, persistent memory and a task board, runs on a computer of its own and can have a phone number. Billing is pure usage; CellCog itself says credit consumption is unpredictable, and payments are non-refundable.
Best for teams that want role-based workers that produce heavy output such as research, decks, video and apps, and can accept variable per-task costs.
Viktor
Viktor is "the AI employee that does the work you can't get to". It lives in Slack and Microsoft Teams, claims 9,800+ tool connections including HubSpot, Salesforce, GitHub, Stripe and PostHog, and asks before anything it can't undo. Credits are shared across the workspace and roll over.
Best for Slack or Teams workplaces that want one shared AI teammate across CRM, ads, engineering and ops tools, with a generous free start.
Relevance AI
Relevance AI calls itself "the home of the AI Workforce" and sells specialist agents for sales, customer success, marketing, support, operations, HR and research. Teams build agents in its platform, and an embedded deployment team helps the first ones go live. Plans meter Actions, counted each time an agent runs a tool, and Vendor Credits, which pass model and tool costs through at wholesale. Its Enterprise plan adds calling and meeting agents and 2,000+ integrations.
Best for go-to-market and operations teams that want to build and run their own team of agents, with onboarding help.
Devin
Cognition describes Devin as "your team's autonomous software engineer". It runs in the cloud or on your machine, tests in its own browser and works until the pull request is ready to merge. It connects to Slack, Microsoft Teams, Linear, Jira, GitHub, GitLab and Bitbucket, and team plans support up to 200 users.
Best for engineering teams whose AI employee only needs to write, test and ship code. Reason also opens pull requests, and adds connectors such as Gmail, Calendar, Stripe and PostHog for jobs outside engineering.
Artisan
Artisan sells Ava, an AI BDR that "finds leads, enriches them, sends personalized messages, and books meetings on behalf of your reps". Ava sends in your reps' names from your own sending domains, includes 250M+ verified B2B contacts and syncs with Salesforce and HubSpot. You can require approval before sending. Pricing is scoped with its sales team, and phone calls go through an AI dialer add-on that your reps use.
Best for B2B sales teams that want outbound prospecting and meeting booking run for them.
11x
11x builds AI agents for outbound sales, inbound leads and customer expansion. Its site lists a real-time company and lead database, multi-channel sequences, smart replies, an AI phone agent, consented outbound calling, inbound lead qualification and routing, and CRM and Slack integrations. It publishes no pricing; you book a demo.
Best for revenue teams that want one platform for prospecting, lead follow-up and phone qualification.
Manus
Manus is a general AI agent that makes slides, websites, research reports, designs and video from a prompt, in web, desktop and mobile apps, with a Slack integration. It bills in credits: free users get daily credits, and its help center gives the $20 Pro plan 4,000 monthly credits. Credits used depend on how complex and long each task is.
Best for individuals and small teams who want a capable general agent for one-off projects more than a standing job on a schedule.

Questions
What is the best AI employee in 2026?
It depends on the job and where your team works. Lindy and Viktor fit Slack-first teams, Sintra and Marblism fit small businesses that want flat prices, Artisan and 11x fit sales teams, Devin fits engineering teams, Manus fits one-off research and content projects, Grok Bot fits X and Cursor subscribers, and Reason fits teams whose AI employees also need to write and ship code.
What is the difference between an AI employee and an AI assistant?
An AI assistant helps when you ask: you prompt it, it answers or does that one task. An AI employee owns a recurring job: it starts on a schedule or trigger, uses the accounts you connect, remembers earlier runs and hands you finished work to approve.
How much do AI employees cost?
On November 1, 2026, listed plans ran from free tiers (Devin, Manus, and starting credits at Lindy, CellCog and Viktor) through entry paid plans that mostly cost $8 to $50 a month, up to $200 a month for heavy use (Reason Max, Devin Max, Grok Bot via X Ultra). Artisan and 11x quote through their sales teams. Most products meter usage in credits, so heavy jobs cost more than the starting price.
What is the best AI employee for sales?
For outbound prospecting, Artisan's Ava and 11x are built for it, and 11x adds an AI phone agent. Relevance AI suits go-to-market teams that want to build their own agents. Reason has no lead database; it fits sales work on your own data, such as a revenue analyst that reports from Stripe or follow-ups you approve in Gmail.
What is the best AI employee for a small business?
Sintra and Marblism sell flat-price bundles of role-based helpers, and Marblism includes a phone receptionist. Reason Pro at $50 a month fits a small team that wants several AI employees sharing one plan's usage, especially if one of the jobs involves code or the ChatGPT, Claude or Grok subscription it already pays for.
Which AI employee can answer phone calls?
Marblism's receptionist answers a real phone line, CellCog employees can have a phone number billed at cost, 11x has an AI phone agent, and Relevance AI offers calling agents on Enterprise, according to their own sites on November 1, 2026. Reason has no phone features.
What is the cheapest AI employee?
Of these twelve, CellCog's Starter plan at $8 a month, Sintra's 12-month plan at $15.60 a month and Relevance AI's Pro plan at $19 a month billed yearly had the lowest listed paid prices on November 1, 2026. Devin and Manus have free plans, and Lindy, CellCog and Viktor have free starting credits.
Is this comparison neutral?
We make Reason, so it is not. We used only each company's own website for its facts, linked every pricing page, and wrote a best-for line for each product, including where another one fits better than Reason.
Can a Reason AI employee answer phone calls?
No. Reason has no phone or voice receptionist features. Its AI employees work through a cloud computer, Slack, email you approve, calendars and the business tools you connect.
