Look up your next reset
Open Settings > Usage on claude.ai. It shows the next weekly reset and the current five-hour session. In Claude Code, the weekly-limit message shows when the window resets.
Decide whether to wait or pay
Until the reset you can turn on usage credits, switch to a Claude Console account billed at API rates, or upgrade; a new plan's limits apply right away.
Save where the task stands
Commit your work in progress on a branch and push it, and note the goal, what is done, what is next and how to check it. Reason can't see your previous agent's conversation, so the branch and your notes carry the task.
Give Reason the task in the composer
Tell Reason which repository and branch to work on, or in the Mac app which folder on your computer, then paste your notes. Pick a GPT model on your ChatGPT plan or another connected model in the composer, so the task keeps moving while your Claude Code limit resets.
Weekly limits and the five-hour limit
Weekly limits apply across all models; Max and Ultra also have a separate weekly limit for Fable. The five-hour session limit is separate and starts with your first message. Reaching the weekly limit stops you even if the current five-hour session has room, and switching models with /model doesn't restore access after a weekly limit.
Because the reset is fixed to your account, using Claude less early in the week doesn't move it. Anthropic doesn't publish one reset time for everyone: check yours.
If you run out days before the reset
A model on another plan can take the task. OpenAI models run on your ChatGPT plan, not your Claude plan: connect it in Reason's web or Mac app, tell Reason the branch and what's next, and pick a GPT model until your Claude week resets.
Questions
Is the Claude weekly limit reset 7 days after I first use it?
No. Anthropic says weekly limits reset at a fixed time assigned to your account, and the day and time stay the same regardless of when you start using Claude or when your subscription begins.
Where do I see when my weekly limit resets?
In Settings > Usage on claude.ai. Claude Code's weekly-limit message also shows when the window resets.
Does upgrading reset my weekly limit?
Anthropic says that if you upgrade, your new plan's limits apply right away.
Does the Free plan have a weekly limit?
Yes. Anthropic's pricing page lists limited usage every five hours and every week on Free.
