Hit your limit? Reason keeps going on your other connected accounts or Reason credits.

Reason sessions run on Reason's cloud and use Reason credits.

Limit reached. Keep the work going.

When Grok Bot hits its limit, your seat's weekly pool is used up, and every plan that includes Grok Bot has one: you keep using Grok Bot after the limit by waiting for the reset, buying prepaid credit for Additional Usage or moving to a bigger plan. To keep the coding work itself moving meanwhile, start it in Reason on the web or in the Mac app, where it runs on Reason's cloud machines and uses your Reason plan's credits instead of your Grok pool. Hit your limit? Reason keeps going on your other connected accounts or Reason credits.

Keep working when Grok Bot hits its limit in four steps

  1. Check your usage view and reset date

Open Usage at grok.com/dashboard, or Settings → Usage & Billing in Grok Bot. It shows how much of the weekly pool is used and the next reset date. If the reset is close, waiting costs nothing; if the meter doesn't match your work, contact support@x.ai first.

  2. Keep using Grok Bot after the limit

Under Additional usage credits on the billing page, buy a one-time top-up or set auto top-up. First-party usage past your weekly pool is Additional Usage, paid from that prepaid credit. On a legacy Cursor plan, turn on on-demand usage instead.

  3. Set a monthly cap on paid usage

Set a Monthly additional usage limit on the billing page so paid usage pauses at an amount you choose. xAI's docs say the cap doesn't stop a Bot in the middle of a run, so a running task can go a little past it.

  4. Keep coding work going in Reason

Open Reason on the web at reasonmachines.com, or in the Reason app for Mac, sign in and connect GitHub. Choose the repository and describe the task, for example "fix the failing tests". The session works in your repository on Reason's own cloud computer, runs the tests and opens a pull request, and it uses your Reason plan's credits, not your Grok weekly pool, so it keeps going whether or not Grok Bot has usage left. With Reason connected to Grok Bot, Grok Bot can also start a session for you; its own messages, including that one, still count toward the weekly pool.

Is there a Grok Bot plan without a weekly limit?

No. On The X Subscription, every plan that includes Grok Bot (Premium, Super, Ultra and the matching team seats) has a weekly pool per seat, shared with Grok and Cursor. Ultra has the largest, 50x Plus's usage. Past the pool, usage continues only as paid Additional Usage from prepaid credit, and a monthly additional usage limit can pause it.

Reason doesn't change Grok Bot's limit either: Grok Bot's own messages still count toward the pool. What Reason changes is where the coding work runs. A Reason session runs on Reason's cloud machines and uses your Reason plan's credits, so it keeps going when Grok Bot's pool is used up.

Questions

Grok Bot limit reached: what do I do?

Check the reset date in your usage view. To keep going before then, buy prepaid credit for Additional Usage or move to a bigger plan; on a legacy Cursor plan, turn on on-demand usage. Coding work can keep going in Reason on the web or in the Mac app, on your Reason plan's credits.

How do I keep using Grok Bot after the limit?

With prepaid credit: usage past your weekly pool is Additional Usage, paid from top-ups you buy on the billing page, up to the monthly additional usage limit you set. Without credit, Grok Bot stops until the pool resets.

Is there a Grok Bot plan without a usage limit?

No. Every plan that includes Grok Bot has a weekly pool per seat; Ultra's is the largest, at 50x Plus's usage. Top-ups pay for usage past the pool as you go.

Does Reason get around the Grok Bot limit?

Not for Grok Bot itself: its own messages still count toward your weekly pool. The coding work you start in Reason runs on Reason's cloud machines and uses your Reason plan's credits, so it keeps going when the pool is used up.

Does handing work to Reason stop Grok Bot from using my weekly pool?

No. Grok Bot's own messages, including the one where it starts a Reason session, still draw from your Grok weekly pool. The coding work itself (reading the code, running builds and tests, opening the pull request) runs in the Reason session on Reason's cloud machine and uses your Reason plan's credits instead.

Is Reason made by xAI?

No. Grok Bot is a product of xAI. Reason is built by Reason Machines and is not affiliated with or endorsed by xAI. Limits and prices on this page come from xAI's own documentation; check it for changes.
